THE STUDIO

Transformative

The creation of beautiful, functional, and inspiring spaces shapes our physical environment and enriches the lives of those who inhabit them. Our goal is to make spaces that enrich and enhance the human experience. Through thoughtful design, we strive to build environments and experiences that encourage engagement, promote well-being, and foster happiness.

Collaborative

At Studio Contento, we know that a strong connection to our clients' needs is the foundation of successful design. From start to finish, we always work closely with our clients, listen to and understand their goals, and work collaboratively to create spaces that exceed their expectations. We believe that every project is unique and deserves a tailored approach, so we always bring a fresh perspective and an open mind.

Holistic

We endeavor to create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional, sustainable, and supportive. At Studio Contento, we consider physical space, the surrounding environment, and the specific needs of inhabitants when designing. We search for unique, innovative solutions that are both functional and beautiful. Our focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail ensures that every element of our designs is carefully considered and executed.

Joyful

Above all, we believe that design has the power to positively impact people's lives, and we are committed to creating spaces that foster well-being, creativity, and connection.

And… spaces that make you smile!

Who we are …

Lindsey Sherman Contento, AIA

Lindsey is the founding partner of Studio Contento. She is a licensed architect with extensive experience that spans from the favelas of São Paulo to the rich and diverse neighborhoods of Los Angeles and southern California. Her eclectic design background has taken her around the world, providing her with a unique set of skills that she strategically utilizes with every project. Her multi-faceted approach allows her to conceptualize, design, develop, and build holistic environments. Lindsey understands the importance of collaboration and how to translate a client’s point of view into innovative and beautifully crafted architectural, interior, and urban design solutions that successfully address unique project requirements.

A Little History:

A Los Angeles native, Lindsey received her Bachelor of Art in Architecture and in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley and her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University, GSAPP. Upon completing her Masters, she moved to Caracas, Venezuela to work with Urban-Think Tank, an interdisciplinary architecture and urban design practice. Here, she focused on the transformative power of social design. Her work was driven from the “bottom-up,” as she worked closely with multidisciplinary teams – diverse communities, municipalities, and consultants – to develop tangible design solutions for marginalized neighborhoods.

With Urban-Think Tank, she held the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Chair of Architecture and Urban Design in the ETH Zürich Department of Architecture in Switzerland, where she led research and design projects. This opportunity allowed Lindsey to develop a unique platform of research and design experimentation that investigated local and global challenges– social, economic, and environmental – to explore innovative architectural and urban solutions. While at the ETH with U-TT, Lindsey led several award-winning design projects, exhibitions, and research initiatives focusing on architecture, urban design, and mobility across South America, Europe, and Asia. These projects include the Centro de Ação Social por Música in São Paulo, Urban Parangolé, part of the Audi UrbanFuture Initiative, Torre David: Gran Horizonte, and Reactivate Athens / 101 Ideas, an initiative sponsored by the Onassis Foundation and under the auspices of the Mayor of Athens.

Upon returning to Los Angeles, Lindsey was excited to strategically apply her knowledge and experience in her hometown. She joined BA Collective (formerly Belzberg Architects), where she led many high-end residential, institutional, and community-driven projects. As a Principal at BA, Lindsey worked closely with stakeholders – home owners, institutions, Boards of Directors, and schools – to develop award winning projects. Some of these projects include The BAR Center, The USC Shoah Foundation headquarters at USC, the Milken Community School Master plan, and several high-end custom homes.

She currently lives in LA with her husband Michael and two kiddos Holden and Ezra!
